NZ Classification – BOTOX®(botulinum toxin type A) is an unfunded Prescription Medicine. You will need to pay for this medicine, and any healthcare professional fees apply. Each vial of BOTOX®(botulinum toxin type A) injection contains 100 units (U) of botulinum toxin type A as a haemagglutinin complex.BOTOX® is used to temporarily improve the appearance of vertical bands connecting the jaw and neck. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. BOTOX® treatment has risks and benefits. Common side effects include pain, tenderness, inflammation, tingling or numbness, swelling (including swelling of the eyelid following injection), redness of the skin, infection, bleeding and/or bruising at the site of injection, generally feeling unwell, dry eye, localized muscle twitching/involuntary muscle contractions, and weakness. For most aesthetic patients, side effects are temporary and limited to where BOTOX® was injected. Uncommon side effects include difficulty swallowing and weakness in the lower part of the face.
